Michelle Pugh established Joonbug Yoga in 2010 with a passion to blend her creative talents with health, wellness and community. Her diverse experience comes from over 30 years of athletics, ballet and dedicated yoga training. Her yoga classes blend creativity, strength, balance, flexibility and flow blooming straight from the heart!

She ran her brick-and-mortar yoga studio, Joonbug Yoga, located in Shelton, Washington from 2010 through 2018 where she led three 200-hour yoga teacher trainings and managed 12 instructors until she closed her studio and was ready to extend the benefits of yoga, meditation and wellness services in the surrounding communities and throughout the state!

Michelle is a traveling Yogini and professional Graphic Designer with a love for plant knowledge born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. With one foot in the mountains and one foot on the shore, she extends her love of health, creativity and wellness with the wellbeing of her clients and community on her heart’s sleeve.

She has 16 years of professional yoga teaching experience sharing in person and virtual classes at various locations including Turning Pointe Women’s Shelter, the Skokomish Tribe, the Cowlitz Tribe, the Puyallup Tribe, Mason General Hospital, the Olympia Golf and Country Club, Alderbrook Golf and Yacht Club, local yoga studios, gyms, non-profit organizations and Washington State agencies (i.e. Attorney General’s Office, Department of Natural Resources and Labor and Industries).

Michelle currently shares yoga offerings at Alderbrook Resort and Spa, the Chehalis Tribe, the Nisqually Tribe, the Squaxin Island Tribe, the Salmon Center and the City of Shelton Parks and Recreation Department. She also offers exclusive private yoga sessions for Alderbrook Resort and Spa corporate groups and guests by reservation.

She has worked for the Chehalis Tribe since 2018 as a domestic violence advocate and trauma sensitive yoga instructor for the sʔax̣ə́ntxʷtwali – ‘Caring for Each Other House’ (formally known as The Healing House) and currently shares weekly aqua yoga and plant classes at the Community Center for the Native Connections Suicide Prevention and Awareness Program.

Michelle loves spending time with her husband and their son in nature - kayaking, paddle boarding, fly fishing, skiing, gardening and mountain biking! She enjoys volunteering at community gardens, gathering wild edibles, creating herbal wellness products and beaded jewelry.

She is certified in various holistic practices by Living Spirit Yoga School, YogaFit®, Forrest Yoga®, Reiki Fitness and Twist Yoga Edmonds. Her depth of experience stems from training and dedication with diverse teachers in the practices of Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Stand-up Paddle Board, Thai Yoga Bodywork, Hot Yoga and Herbalism.

Michelle's professional expertise in marketing and visual communications is rooted in her graphic design career. She has worked professionally as a Senior Graphic Designer since 1998 in house and as a freelance designer for state agencies, small businesses, non-profit and tribal organizations. Michelle currently teaches weekly digital art classes at the Nisqually Tribe’s Language Program via her freelance graphic design business, Joonbug Graphic Design
