Michelle Pugh established Joonbug Yoga in 2010 with a passion to blend her creative talents with health, wellness and community. Her diverse experience comes from over 30 years of athletics, ballet and dedicated yoga training. Her yoga classes blend creativity, strength, balance, flexibility and flow blooming straight from the heart!

She ran her brick-and-mortar yoga studio, Joonbug Yoga, located in Shelton, Washington from 2010 through 2018 where she led three 200-hour yoga teacher trainings and managed 12 instructors until she closed her studio and was ready to extend the benefits of yoga, meditation and wellness services in the surrounding communities and throughout the state!

Michelle is a traveling Yogini and professional Graphic Designer with a love for plant knowledge born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. With one foot in the mountains and one foot on the shore, she extends her love of health, creativity and wellness with the wellbeing of her clients and community on her heart’s sleeve.

She is certified in various holistic practices by Living Spirit Yoga School, YogaFit®, Forrest Yoga®, Reiki Fitness and Twist Yoga Edmonds. Her depth of experience stems from training and dedication with diverse teachers in the practices of Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Yin, Gentle Chair Yoga for Elders, Aqua Yoga, Stand-up Paddle Board Yoga, Thai Yoga Bodywork, Hot Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Trauma Sensitive Yoga, Sound Healing, Energetics, Guided Yoga Nidra Meditation and Herbalism.

Create and Meditate

Michelle's professional expertise in marketing and visual communications is rooted in her graphic design career. She received her Associates in Applied Arts and Communications in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Seattle in 1996 and has worked professionally as a Senior Graphic Designer since 1998 for various tribal, government and non-profit organizations since.

Her inspiration for creativity and living a healthy lifestyle is her son who is also a graphic designer and artist! Michelle and her son create websites, logos, illustrations and publications via her freelance graphic design business, Joonbug Graphic Design.

She is grateful to share digital art classes at the Nisqually Indian Tribe’s Language Program and the City of Shelton Parks and Recreation Civic Center!

Michelle enjoys the balance of sharing the healing benefits of yoga, plant knowledge and graphic design. Her father is a retired teacher and coach and her mother is an artist and illustrator. She is deeply influenced by their teachings and grateful for their support!

She loves spending time with her husband and their son in nature - kayaking, paddle boarding, fly fishing, skiing, gardening and mountain biking. Movement is medicine! The sunshine, outdoor activities near water and time with family bring energy to fill her cup so that she can better share with others!

Michelle volunteers at community gardens, gathers wild edibles and creates herbal wellness products and beaded jewelry. Check out the store page for hand made products made with love!
