Shelton's Premier Yoga Studio

Classes start Monday, January 23rd, 2012! We are located inside of the historic 1912 building in downtown Shelton (above Xinh's).

This open space welcomes students new to yoga as well as advanced students. Access to the studio is available by stairway and elevator. We are now accepting new students of all levels for our diverse group yoga classes, private lessons and posture clinics. Please call Michelle Pugh at (360) 556-6205 or email to pre-register. Drop-in students, please call 24 hours in advance to attend a yoga class.

Michelle Pugh, Rebekah Brems and Camelia Pugh are all 200 hour certified and registered yoga teachers with Yoga Alliance working toward the 500 hour certification with Living Spirit Yoga in 2012. These experienced Hatha yoga teachers offer diverse strengths in Vinyasa, Flow, Kundalini, Gentle, YogaFit Sweat and Beginning Yoga. We look forward to sharing our passion for yoga with you!

 

Michelle, owner of Joonbug Yoga, is a Senior Graphic Designer, certified in Yoga, LaStone Hotstone Therapy and Usui Reiki. Since childhood, her passions for healing and creativity have inspired her to share wellness with others. Michelle's yoga practice has been an essential influence in her life since she took her first class over 20 years ago while practicing yoga, ballet and sports. She shares an intuitive and creative passion for yoga that blooms straight from the heart. Her experience with WA State Parks since 2001 has brought an even deeper appreciation of service with others. Her classes are for everyone and every body – blending strength, flexibility and wellness for those new to yoga as well as advanced students. Michelle, her husband, son and 2 dogs, enjoy their peaceful home near the Olympic Mountains and love skiing, fly fishing and exploring nature year-round.

 

Rebekah began her yoga journey over 15 years ago and is honored to be sharing yoga today. Rebekah offers a Hatha style based class with influences from Kundalini and Vinyasa style yoga. With focus on breath, body awareness, specific systems in the body and over all well being, Rebekah's classes are suitable for beginners and intermediate yogi's alike.  When not sharing yoga with others you can find Rebekah in her garden, behind the camera taking photos or painting signs for Trader Joe's.

 

Camelia has been practicing yoga for over 10 years and an LPN  for over 25 years. She carries her passion for yoga on and off the mat while teaching Flow Yoga and Beginning Yoga to those new to yoga and advanced students. Her creative touch is heart-felt in the beautiful yoga bags, purses, eye pillows and other lovely creations she makes for others.

 

Preparation for yoga class:
Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to class to honor yourself and others as each class begins with a brief meditation and breathing exercise. Please call in advance if you would like to join the class as a drop-in or if you would like to bring a guest. We have limited space (up to 20 students per class) and would like to ensure there is enough space to accommodate everyone. Yoga mats, blankets, blocks, straps, bolsters and eye pillows are provided. Please hydrate with water throughout the day prior to attending class. Dress comfortably in layers as you may sweat. Practicing yoga on an empty stomach is suggested – eating a light meal 1.5-2 hours prior to class or a light snack 30 minutes before class will enhance your practice.

 

Yoga Class Descriptions

Mixed Hatha/Vinyasa Flow Yoga:
Invigorate your body with a blend of various yoga poses and breathing techniques that are introduced and moderately paced class for beginning and advanced students in healthy physical condition. This popular class is full of creative movement that will bring rejuvenation inside and out, strengthen your body and renew your cardiovascular system. The dynamic Vinyasa flow yoga sequences include Sun Salutations, Downward Facing Dog, Half Moon Pose, Pigeon and more (all poses may be modified for all levels of experience). We complete each class with a 10 minute rest to allow the body, mind and spirit to reorganize and balance in deep relaxation.

 

YogaFit Sweat:
Enjoy hot yoga? You will love this heat-building class! Activate your body with ease and vigor during this challenging Vinyasa style yoga class. Inspiration, perspiration, detoxification and strength are all present throughout the series. Spark your inner fire during this yoga class and introduce even more cardio and oxygen into your body. This energetic class is suggested for students in healthy physical condition. Poses include Sun Salutations, Plank, Chaturanga, Dancer's Pose, Lunges and more (all poses may be modified for all levels of experience). We complete each class with a 10 minute rest to allow the body, mind and spirit to reorganize and balance in deep relaxation.

 

Beginning Yoga:
Students new to yoga will appreciate this beginning class that introduces alignment and breath into a mix of basic poses. Familiarize your body with yoga – utilizing blocks, straps and bolsters to safely support your practice. This is the ideal class for those looking to learn how to safely balance and align the body and is a great way to restart the day (all poses may be modified for all levels of experience)! We complete each class with a 5-10 minute rest to allow the body, mind and spirit to reorganize and balance in deep relaxation.

 

Gentle Yoga:
This gentle yoga class brings relaxation and comfort to beginning students and those living with chronic pain (specifically specifically fibromyalgia, neck pain, back pain and arthritis). The focus is an introduction to basic yoga poses designed to bring calm and tranquility into your life (all poses may be modified for all levels of experience). This is a great class for beginning yoga students to start learning the basics of alignment, breathing and relaxation (limited standing to floor pose transitions). We complete each class with a 5-10 minute rest to allow the body, mind and spirit to reorganize and balance in deep relaxation. Research shows that gentle relaxation therapy such as yoga can help with fibromyalgia, headache, osteoarthritis and other conditions.

Rates for Group Yoga Classes
The cost for our 10-class card is $85 for 10 consecutive yoga classes (commitment to attend at least 1-2 classes per week is required and expires in 6 weeks from date of purchase or when all 10 classes have been attended). Payment to Michelle Pugh is due at the time of first class (cash/check accepted - non refundable). $10 for drop-ins when space is available.

 

Rates for Private Yoga Lessons and Posture Clinics
Looking to deepen your yoga practice? A 60 minute private yoga lesson or a 90 minute yoga posture clinic will bring even more focus in alignment while working with poses specific to your body's needs. Either option is suggested for those new to yoga to familiarize your body with the correct alignment and breathing while moving into and out of each pose. Private lessons are $50 per hour per person. Posture Clinics are $60 for 90 minutes per person (up to 2 students may attend per session).
